Weekly Schedule:
June 6th-10th
Summer Arts Camp kick-off week
- Creativity abounds at our camps, from learning instruments to making art projects to writing and performing
our own skits! Campers will learn about composers and musical time periods, and have the chance to perform.
- Activities include games, outdoor fun, KidsSpot recreacytions, walks on the bike path, and outings to the park,library
or The Club House (ice cream).
June 13th-17th
"All of Life is a Stage"
Learn about how music and acting combine in two musical styles: Opera and Musical Theater. Campers maay even work on creating
and performing their own musical!
June 20th-24th
Dancing on the Keys
We all recognize "The Entertainer!" Ragtime was the begtinning of a whole newmusical era in America. Learn about Scott
Joplin and other ragtime performers who changed musical history.
June 27th- July 1st
What's Your Favorite Movie?
StartWars? Lord of the Rings? Narnia? Behind every great movie there is great music, and the people who composed it. Learn
about famous Film Score composers this week.
July 5th-8th
Hear Ye! Hear Ye! Calling all Knights and Ladies!
This week we'll learn about the Medievil Era, way back in the 6th century. Ever heard of a "hurdy-gurdy," or a 'zither?'
Find out about all the cool instruments and music of Midevil Times.
July 11th-15th
Latin, Anyone?
The Renaissance is the era of the madrigal dinners, court jesters, and sacred music (music sung in church). Impress your
friends by speaking in Latin, the main musical "language" of the times . Or impress other campers with your juggeling and
joke- telling skills.
July 18th-22nd
Wiggin' Out
Yep, we're gonna learn all about those guys with the curly white wigs. Bach, Haydn,Scarlatti - the masters of the Baroque
Era. Music during this time period was all about being fancy!
July 25th-29th
Express Yourself
No, the Romantic Era wasn't about love songs! It was about expressing your feelings through music and art. So come this
week to be a true Artist- let all your creative energies out!
August 1st-5th
Have a swingin' Time!
There's all sorts of music to explore this week! Jazz, Folk Songs, Minimalism (what's that?), Impressionism. The 20th Century
was all about experimentation and improvisation.
August 8th-12th
It's My Time
Learn about how music has changed in the past 10 years- during your lifetime! You could make history! Are you the
world's next great composer???
August 15th-19th
Piano Tunes Idol
To finish up a great summer, we 'll be looking at those Pop and Rock musicians that we all know and love. And to top it
off, campers get to pull out all the stops for Piano Tunes Idol!
